ZandaBot Chronicles Excerpt
Isle of Colossus
Eye of Stone

by Max Magee

“The team presently collecting data and sorting all the items inside the Church of Stars Burial Chamber have found what looks to be a large wall painting of an eye?” continues Bolin.

“What’s so special about that!” asks Max.

“Well! This eye is painted vertically. Not horizontally. And it’s painted in black, white, and numerous shades of grey at the highest point of the hole in the south face of Mount Ore, which Flint faces sitting in his chair!” replies Bolin.

“The significance of this find, Max. Is that Silence have several scripts written about a large black, human-looking eye on the Isle of Colossus!” continues Bolin, looking at Max before Joan.

“And! Remember the two sons of Heptasees in the Bedouin Sky Palace who were made out of a jet black kind of marble or a material of that type!” adds Bolin.

“I’ve read about a large, sacred eye-shaped ornament on the Isle of Colossus. And if I remember right, it was black?” says Joan, looking around the group.

“Jeez! What was that story's narrative?” mutters Joan, patting the right side of her head several times.

“Don’t stress, Joan, because we’re all going to the Isle of Colossus to join Tony Gibson, Ari, Layla and the other guys of our newly named Head Search Team on the island to try and locate the Church of Stars Palace!” says Bolin with a broad grin.

“YES!” shouts Zieg before clapping gently. “HST, I like their new tag!”

“Cool!” adds Nari as Max and Dal high-five each other.

“If we discover this Palace, I hope it’s as impressive as the Bedouin Sky Palace!” says Dal.

“Yeah!” agrees Max. “That Palace was so cool!”

“Jeez! I love these trips!” mutters Nari.

“Oh, yes!” agrees Zieg. “They’re the best part of our job,” she adds with two thumbs up toward Bolin.

“I also have even better news?” says Bolin, grinning. “And only a handful of the top Silence operatives know about this!” he adds.

“Stop teasing them?” says Steve, smiling at Bolin, who chuckles loudly.

“Do you remember those sounds of running water coming from those deep wells and the river we found in the Bedouin's Sky Palace?” asks Bolin, looking mainly toward Joan.

“Yeah!” mumbles Joan.

“Well! Tony and Anton followed their hunch and planned a brave boat trip by taking a small boat and supplies to follow the river, which looked to run beneath the Bedouin Sky Palace towards what they thought was the same side of the island as the Dead Mans Shrine Cave, which we’ve been using to enter the Isle of Colossus!” continues Bolin.

“And?” says Max.

“AND!” replies Bolin. “Their hunch paid off because that river ends right inside the Dead Mans Shrine Cave!”

“NO!” says Dal, shocked.

“Ha!” shouts Joan. “Perfect! A new and quicker way into the heart of the Isle of Colossus!” she adds excitedly.

“That’s if the return boat trip back toward the Bedouin Sky Palace is safe?” says Zieg, looking intently at Bolin.

“The return journey is a little more hazardous, but we know it’s possible because Tony and Anton have already completed it,” replies Bolin.
