“Right! Would you two like to visit the basement?” asks Steve, with Mr Marshall now gone and getting Zig and Max’s attention.
“I wasn’t going to show you guys this area today, but our meeting has gone exceptionally well for all three of us. I think we can agree on that, can’t we?” asks Steve.
“Yes! Sir! Very much so!” answers Zig.
“And if you’re thinking whether or not you can trust me and Max entirely. Then your answer is a one hundred per cent YES,” she adds as Max verbally agrees because he’s looking forward to whatever this opportunity brings.
Steve smiles at his new friends before leading them to a part of his office that is out of view from ninety per cent of the room. He slides two panels from the centre outward to reveal a polished silver elevator door.
“Zig, this is your point of no return?” says Steve, turning to look at the young writer before standing still as the elevator doors open.
“You see, Zig. You will be my needle’s thread?” adds Steve.
“You will be writing the stories to help humanity understand and accept our AI Technologies. You will help me unite humanity and AI technology to live in harmony for a long time to come. We may even be helping to colonise other planets?”
“What Silence, our mother organisation, will be doing by partnering with many countries worldwide is building our newly named ZandaBot Initiative project!” continues Steve.
“Silence has started setting up our AI Technology Platforms for our children and future visionaries to use and create even more advanced technologies not yet thought of, helping our human race exist long into the future!”
“So! Are you sure you want to join me in our newly named ZandaBot Initiative?” asks Steve sternly.
Zig stands perfectly still and in complete silence, staring at Steve for what seems like an age before looking at Max and then back at Steve.
“Wow! I suppose I’d better. After all, you'll be using my ZandaBot intellectual property,” says Zig, still looking at Steve.
“Yeah! I'll be the thread in your needle!” adds Zig.
“But! My question is?” she continues.
“Can you and this Silence organisation guarantee me your needle is strong enough and sharp enough to stitch together the correct technologies that will guide humanity forward?” she asks, smiling and nodding at the visionary CEO.
“Oh, yes!” says Steve, looking confidently at Zig. “And I will prove it to you and Max shortly!” he adds, making Zig and Max raise their eyebrows while nodding at each other.
Steve high-fives Zig and Max before all three enter the elevator, watching moments later as the elevator doors slide open to reveal a light-grey, painted concrete wall two meters away.
“Follow me, guys,” says Steve.
Zig and Max follow their CEO as he walks around two corners, leading into a wide-open space where Zig and Max see two people working at a bench a short distance away.
Steve and the guys continue walking until they reach the staff members.
“This is Zig and Max. The guys I spoke to you about,” says Steve, turning toward the young couple.
“You spoke to …” says Zig, stopping mid-sentence.
“Welcome, Zig, Max,” says the man, offering his hand to shake.
“This is Zen and Sara,” continues Steve with his introductions.
“So, you’re the young ZandaBot creator?” asks Sara, looking at Zig.
“That’s me!” smiles Zig, a little shocked, before the five AI enthusiasts continue with their conversation for an hour or so.
“Can we show them, Nuno?” asks Steve, looking at Zen.
“Are you completely confident with these two young people?” replies Zen.
“Yes!” answers Steve, quickly.
“We’ve been chatting all day. And we’ve reached a mutually honest working agreement. Plus, Zig and Max have signed the legal papers with a thirty-day proviso!” he continues.
“Meaning! Zig will join us on this project as soon as possible. And Max will be transferred into our AI team, with immediate effect,” he adds.
“JEEZ!” It’s official, it’s happening!” mutters Zig, glowing with excitement.
