Just as the commotion dies down, Ji-Min spots his main office door opening in his peripheral vision, so he turns to see Steve knocking on the inside of his door before joining the team.
Everyone, including the ZandaBots, welcome Steve before he sits at the table.
“Our ZandaBots have had a valuable experience shadowing you guys here in Seoul!” says Steve, looking at Zig and the guys before the ZandaBots. “I’ve seen some of their data,” he adds.
“Working amongst humans in the real world as they shadowed you guys has been a great learning curve for our ZandaBots because they worked without any of our friendly human interactions, which they’ve been used to!” continues Steve.
“Yes!” agrees Albertina. “Interacting with complete - you say - strangers is a great learning experience for us,” she continues.
“I agree! And using the tools you humans use to get through your lives with other humans was intriguing!” adds Nero.
“ID cards, credit cards, paper money and coins, different clothes, using your public transport and more while interacting with humans was fascinating!” continues Nuno.
“And not one negative or inquisitive look or comment from any human. I think this could be the start of ZandaBots working alongside and amongst your human race!” adds Nazz.
“Well! Except for one notable incident?” says Albertina, looking at Nuno.
“Agreed!” says Nero. “When you stood on that poor woman’s foot!” he continues, also looking at Nuno.
“I counted three Koran swear words in her sentence aimed at you, Nuno!” adds Albertina, looking at Zig and the guys while smiling.
“It was a busy area, and I apologised to the woman many times in her Korean dialect. I also bowed to her many times. I was very apologetic. It was an accident!” replies Nuno unreservedly.
“You stood! …” mutters Max before laughing.
“That poor woman!” adds Nari.
“You’ll have to be more careful in public places!” says Steve with a half-smile.
“Yes! You should Nuno. But my friend. This is what happens in human life!” adds Dal. “All you can do is apologise and try not to repeat your error!” he adds.
“I did and I will, Dal,” replies Nuno. “I’m feeling - you say - guilty for my error!” he adds, slightly drooping his head.
“Really? You feel guilty!” asks Zig. “Well, in that case, Mr Gamora and John Mendel’s work on creating and building your conscience is working!” she adds.
Steve looks at Ji-Min, and the two friends nod towards each other regarding Zig’s comment.
“Right!” says Ji-Min, getting everyone’s attention. “We’ll continue our catch-up here for a few hours. Then Zig and you guys can leave to enjoy a few days of free time in Seoul,” he adds, bringing a smile to Zig and her friend’s faces.
“Steve and you, ZandaBots, will you join Nara, Sara and their team downstairs in our lab, Zig, guys, we’ll see you back here at nine o’clock on Tuesday morning. Have fun!” continues Ji-Min.
Zig, Nari, and the guys leave the table to bid farewell to the ZandaBots, Steve, and the others before heading to Seoul for fun and food.
Nari and the guys return to their hotel rooms to relax, take a shower and change their clothes, before heading out into the night to find a restaurant recommended by Jae.
It’s now early evening, but the streets are already busy with local vendors, business people and tourists.
“There it is!” says Nari, pointing to a colourful and brightly lit upper-class bistro on the opposite side of the street.
After spending some time in the bistro, enjoying the fantastic food and great hospitality, Zig and the guys head further up the street to an area known for its casual bars and popular dance clubs.
The four guys enjoy drinks in a few bars before entering a club where the DJ plays a mix of hip-hop and house music.
Zig, Nari, and the boys have a great time chatting, laughing, and dancing before everyone starts to tire from their hectic day.
“I loved that club!” says Zig as all four guys leave and encounter the slightly cooler night air.
“Me too!” adds Nari. “And I’ve never seen our men dance like they did tonight!” she adds, making Zig chuckle.
“We couldn’t let you women have all the fun. Could we, Maxie Boy!” replies Dal, throwing an arm around Max’s shoulder.
“No, Dal! Exactly!” replies Max, returning Dal’s friendly yet alcohol-induced attention. “Someone had to show the girls how to dance!” he continues.
Zig and Nari laugh out loud as the group continues to walk until two cars race toward them at high speed on the four-lane road to their left.
As the cars speed past, all four guys turn to look.
“Jeez!” mutters Nari. “They’re racing?”
Then, suddenly, the loud screech of tyres is heard, followed by the banging and clattering of steel and the smashing of glass.
Screaming and shouting quickly follow as a commotion breaks out before two gunshots are heard.
Zig, Nari, and the boys look farther up the road to see a three-car crash just before a set of pedestrian lights about 300 meters ahead.
The crash scene is swarming with people who are now scattering from the roadside and the smashed cars.
As Zig and the guys watch the commotion, two men dressed in light grey suit jackets and white blood-stained shirts rush toward them, quickly followed by another man in a dark grey suit jacket and white shirt, brandishing a handgun.
Before Zig or any of the guys can move, three people stand directly in front of them, shout as another person starts to run toward the three men who are approaching fast. These actions cause the two leading men to quickly change direction as they dodge their way through the crowded street.
The two men run into a side road, followed quickly by the third man, who stops briefly to get a line of sight before firing several shots at the two men.
