ZandaBot Chronicles Excerpt

Trillium Wars Su-Jins Ghost

by Max Magee

“Cool!” says Max, looking at Steve. “We’re going to Seoul to see Ji-Min and Nero. Is this visit work or pleasure?” he asks.

“Ha! Trust you, Max. Work with a touch of pleasure!” replies Steve, smiling at Max. “Oh! And we’ll be meeting Albertina too,” he adds, turning to look at Zieg,”

“Yes!” mutters Zieg before doing a fist pump.

“And you guys will be working closely with Nero and Albertina for this assignment,” adds Steve, making Zieg pay attention.

“Assignment?” says Nari quietly.

“Yeah! Silence thought you’d like to be involved in this ZandaBot Human Interaction Project. So they’ve assigned me, you guys, Judy, and Ray to this project, which will start in ten days in Seoul,” explains Steve.

“We’ll get the finer details from Ji-Min when we get to Seoul,” he adds.

“Human Interaction! Intriguing?” mutters Nari.

“Can you give us a tiny hint as to what we’ll be doing?” asks Dal.

“Let’s just say our assignment includes ZandaBots, motorbikes and Nari’s sister’s motorbike gang!” replies Steve, leaving his answer at that.

“Ghost Riders?” remarks Zieg, looking towards Nari. “Awe! Come on, you can't leave it at that?” adds Zieg before tapping Steve on his arm at shoulder height.

“Give us a few details,” she adds, scrunching up her nose and smiling at Steve, who doesn’t say another word as he smiles silently back at Zieg.

Ten days later, Steve, Zieg, and the team are in Seoul, walking into the T.Vodo corporate building.

“Welcome, guys!” says Jae, greeting all the guys as they enter reception.

Everyone returns Jae’s warm greeting before she leads them up and into Ji-Mins office.

“Steve, Ray, guys,” says Ji-Min loudly as he walks into a frenzy of handshakes and hugs from Steve and the guys.

“Come, let’s sit,” says Ji-Min, gesturing toward his large office table.

“Jae, do you want a hand?” asks Judy as Jae moves toward a newly installed, small refreshments island set to one side of Ji-Mins office.

“Please!” answers Jae before the two ladies head for refreshments.

Jae and Judy join the rest of the team as they lay two plates of refreshing watermelon slices and cold drinks on the office table.

“Okay, Ji-Min! Tell us the assignment details!” asks Steve as Jae and Judy sit.

“Well! I want you guys to introduce Nero and Albertina to the Ghost Rider members at your next bike meeting so they can ride out with you guys,” says Ji-Min, leaving everyone to ponder his words.

“You want Nero and Albertina to join us on a full-on bike meeting in public?” asks Max.

“Those guys race like crazy on those meetings!” adds Nari.

“Yes and good!” replies Ji-Min, looking around the group.

“We want to see how these two ZandaBots act and respond in the real world with humans and the challenges of handling motorbikes at speed on normal roads,”

“And there’s no better place than a busy, crowded and competitive environment than a bike meeting where you guys ride out and race each other,” continues Ji-Min.

“Perfect!” says Steve. “Risky! But perfect,”

“So, at no time will any of the Bot’s actions be managed or constricted. Each Bot action and reaction will be spontaneous,” mutters Steve.
