ZandaBot Chronicles Excerpt

ZandaBot Dawn Last Shadow Dancer

by Max Magee

“Shanghai?” says Zieg loudly.

“Shanghai!” repeats Steve. “I thought you’d like to visit BXC LabTech, the hi-tech company working on the versatility and dexterity of Zandabot Nazz!” he adds.

“Yeah! You bet,” answers Zieg, making Max look up from his computer.

“I’ve already spoken to Nari, Dal and Joan, who's particularly excited because we’ll be getting her recently acquired Capsule checked out?” adds Steve.

“Wow! This sounds fascinating,” says Zieg. “When are we going?”

“Judy’s finalising the details with one of our Silence members because we’ll be meeting Nari and Dal at our hotel in Shanghai,” answers Steve.

“So, we’ll talk again next week when all the details have been finalised,” he continues.

“Yes!” replies Zieg, punching the air. “We’re already looking forward to it. Bye for now,” she adds, now smiling at her boyfriend.

“What?” says Max, smiling back at his woman as she hangs up.

“We’re going to Shanghai to see Zandabot Nazz, Nari and Dal!” explains Zieg.

“Wow! Shanghai. Sounds fun,” says Max.

Nine days later, Zieg, Max, and Joan arrive at Chuckle Technologies in London, where Steve greets them at reception.

“Morning, guys. I'm sorry Ray wasn’t able to pick you up today. He is busy?” says Steve, having just walked into reception.

“Come on! Let’s go up to my office,” he adds, heading for the elevator.

“Rays busy?” mutters Max toward Zieg before everyone acknowledges receptionist Sharon on their way to the elevator.

“Come in,” says Steve, opening his office door.

Everyone sits in the comfy chairs in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the City of London.

“Our flight is booked for six o’clock tomorrow morning,” says Steve.

“So I thought we could have an evening meal in our hotel tonight before getting a good night’s sleep in readiness for our early start!”

“If that’s okay with you guys!” he adds, looking around the group as everyone mutters their agreement.

“Ray will pick us up at four o’clock for our seven o’clock flight, so we should reach our hotel in Shanghai at around nine o’clock tomorrow evening if everything goes to plan,”

“Oh! That’s where we’ll meet Nari and Dal at our hotel in Shanghai. Plus, they’ll have a Silence agent shadow them for their journey,” continues Steve.

“Just a precaution!” explains Steve, knowing Zieg and Max will wonder why the shadow agent.

“Great! I’m looking forward to this trip!” says Joan with a sparkle in her eyes.

“Oh yeah! Thanks, Joan, for working with Judy on the arrangements for your Capsule to be taken personally by a Silence agent to BXC LabTech. We’ll need to investigate that Capsule on the arranged date?” says Steve.

“No problem!” smiles Joan.

“It was like being in a spy movie working with Judy setting up the security process to hand over our Capsule, and a little scary too,” she continues.

“Well! I’m glad to report that our courier is en route and that all is well. So, we’ll see your Capsule on the set date,” adds Steve.

“Sounds good to me,” says Zieg. “And I have a great story and image ideas in my head for that secret Capsule handover?” she adds, looking toward Steve.
